The redevelopment of ERTS includes replacement of 220kV and 66kV apparatus, 2x 150MVA Transformers and Civil works.

The installation of the two transformers will significantly enhance the station’s capacity to handle and distribute electrical power.

Civil works are also planned to support these upgrades and ensure the station complies with modern safety and operational standards. These improvements aim to sustainably meet the increasing electricity needs of the region served by ERTS.

Most of the switchgear and three 220/66kV transformers at SVTS have reached the end of their service life. The project aims to rebuild the 220kV and 66kV switchyards and replace three out of the four 220/66kV transformers. The project scope includes, but is not limited to:

• In-situ replacements of 6x 220 kV disconnectors, 2x 220 kV circuit breakers, 6x 220 kV line CVTs, and 12x 220 kV surge arresters.
• 220kV BUS augmentations
• Removal of all decommissioned plant
• Replacement of 4x 220 kV line protection schemes
• Replacement of 7x 66 kV line circuit breakers
• Replacement of 1x 66 kV capacitor bank POW circuit breakers
• In-situ replacement of 2x 150 MVA 220/66/11 kV power transformers
• Replacement of all 66 kV bus insulators
• Replacement of 20x 66 kV isolator sets
• Replacement of all earthing receptacles in the station
• Replacement of control and protection schemes associated with the 66 kV works
• Principal contractor for the entire site
