The Golden Plains Wind Farm, a state-significant project set to become Australia’s largest wind farm, represents a landmark in clean energy for Victoria and Australia, with plans to power over 765,000 homes. With a budget exceeding $3 billion, the project has secured approval for up to 228 wind turbines, and a 300 MW battery storage facility to bolster grid flexibility and stability. Integral to the wind farm is the Cressy Terminal Station, currently under construction, which will connect the farm to the national electricity grid.
4x 300MVA 220/33kV TRANSFORMERS
STATCOMS 28kV
UNDERGROUND CABLING
FILTER BANKS 200kV
WIND TURBINE GENERATORS (WTG’S)
HIGH VOLTAGE TERMINATIONS
Designed to convert wind-generated energy to grid-compatible voltage, stabilize energy supply, and distribute electricity efficiently, the station enhances the wind farm’s capacity to deliver clean energy, aligning with regional renewable energy objectives.
Rapid advances in turbine technology will see the latest generation of 165 m rotors generate approximately 10-14% more electricity without exceeding a 230 m total tip height. The project will also feature a 300 MW battery storage facility that will add flexibility and stability to the grid.
